The history of Garden Square

Garden Square opened back in 2006, and quickly became known as one of downtown Brampton’s premier public spaces. In June 2015, it was revitalised.  Regular programming launched that same year from May to September, and is still used today to feature emerging artists, movie nights, live music, and demonstrations. The Square also hosts City of Brampton’s annual National Indigenous Peoples Day, Pride in the Square, New Year’s Eve Concert, and community events and celebrations throughout the year.

In June 2018, The City of Brampton recognized Garden Square as a cultural hotspot in downtown Brampton in its Culture Master Plan.

The future of Garden Square is bright

The City plans to invest more in Garden Square. It is regarded as an important place where citizens can gather, share their civic pride and their creativity through arts and culture programs, events, and community-focused activities.

We hope you'll explore all that Garden Square has to offer! It's an amazing place that's always fun to visit.
